Now, along comes Southwest with their $25 air fare sale. That’s correct, just $25 (for up to 375 miles).. Fares like that should have the other air lines quaking in their cockpits or, if they were smart, matching fares.

Announced Tuesday, Dallas-based Southwest will fly you up to 375 miles for $25, 375-549 miles for $50, or 550-999 miles for a measly $75. Anything over 1000 miles will cost travelers $100, one-way.

The new low fares are available for purchase through Thursday, for travel between Dec. 2 and Dec. 16, or between Jan. 5 and Feb. 10. Other restrictions may apply.
